These included a $189 Brother ADS-1200 and $89 Brother DS-640 these two have satisfactory operations, performance and enhance overall productivity. Along with Brother’s these scanners, we also explored a much expensive option ScanSnap iX 1600 Premium that is offered at $396 with faster speed and outstanding performance. Today, we would get detailed view of Canon’s $123 Canoscan Lide-300 Scanner. Its features, pros and cons, user experiences.
Scan Quality
Canoscan Lide-300 Scanner is capable of scanning to digitize documents and photographs both color and gray with 48-bit and 16-bit graduation respectively. It supports 2400 x 2400 dpi resolution. It produces sharp, high quality beautiful scans at a good scanning speed. Thus even with low price point it never disappoints its users. However, investing in much expensive options Brother ADS 1200 and ScanSnap iX 1600 premium would elevate user satisfaction to next level.
Compact design offering greater portability
It comes with strong design much more compact measuring 14.5 x 9.9 x 1.7 inches and weight just 3.6 pounds making it an easy-to-fit item that can adjust to small spaces or shelves. Moreover, you can also move it from place to place with ease. However while you transport it from one place to another, make sure you have properly protected its Z-lid because it can be easily damaged. Additionally, Locking the scanner would also be wise and better for safety purpose.
EZ Buttons
Canoscan Lide-300 Scanner comes with very simple and easy user interface that any beginner or novice person can easily utilize it properly. these buttons include; PDF, auto scan, Copy and send.
PDS: With IJ Scan software you set the parameters telling the scanner to save you scanned document in PDF file format. Later on you can easily share it to anyone you wish.
Auto scan: Scans automatically saves them to appropriate file formats. Text documents may be save to PDF format while Phots to JPEGs format.
Copy: Canoscan Lide-300 Scanner send the scanned doscumnets and photos to specific destinations that you allocated in your scan utility
Send: It send scanned documents to allocated email or application for further editing or sharing.
Z-lid
Canoscan Lide-300 Scanner’s Z-lid can be elevated to 21mm so that you can easily scan your documents, magazines, books etc. This increases overall comfort, saves time and effort, and offers greater productivity. However, while you move it be careful it can easily be damaged or broken.
Ease to set up and connectivity
Canoscan Lide-300 is just a plug and play scanner and doesn’t require GBs of softwares downloaded before use. Thus you can start scanning, and sharing your documents, photos right from the moment you connect it to your system via 48 inches long USB cable. However, Supporting only USB connectivity might not suit many users and I would myself have preferred Wi-Fi connectivity. Moreover, length of USB cable is also subjective many user might not find it helpful.
Affordability vs Performance
Canoscan Lide-300 Scanner is very affordable with just $123 but a good performance. It is Amazon’s choice and high selling product with positive user rating of 4.3. However, It is wise to go through our reviews regarding scanners with better performance.

Performance
Users have been satisfied the scanning ability and speed it offers with error free scanning, and features like auto scan, copy, send and PDF adding more comfort.
Vary lightweight scanner
One more thing that many users highlighted is its very low weight of 3.6 pounds making it easy to carry and small in small allows it to fit to backpack thus allowing you to transport it to anywhere you want.
Connectivity
USB cable with 48 inches length offering comfortable connectivity even from a distance. However, several users feel that such a long cable also feels hectic to place when you connect it on different places and move a lot. While few suggesting wi-fi connectivity would have been far better choice
Affordability playing the game
For these type of low budget offerings mainly the price point seems to be one major advantage over the others. Because of greater affordability, people don’t expect much luxury from the product and feel satisfied with what they get. (Just my opinion)
